MUSE [X] welcomes Dr. Pathorn Srikaranonda as Director of Jazz Department

MUSE [X] Academy is proud to announce the appointment of Associate Professor Dr. Pathorn Srikaranonda as Director of the Jazz Department.

An internationally respected saxophonist and composer, Dr. Pathorn has performed in more than thirty countries across symphony halls, jazz clubs, festivals, and cultural stages around the world. His career bridges classical discipline, jazz freedom, Thai cultural identity, and global artistic exchange.

For more than three decades, Dr. Pathorn was a prominent member of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Au-Sau Friday Band, becoming one of the leading advocates of His Majesty’s musical legacy. His distinguished performance history includes royal command performances, international festivals, and collaborations with leading orchestras and jazz ensembles across Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America.

In recent years, Dr. Pathorn has continued to represent Thailand on major international stages, including performances in New Orleans, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Kathmandu, China, and across Europe. In 2024, he performed for the German President during an official state visit to Thailand, and in 2026 he headlined at the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans with Joe Lastie’s Jazz to Brass featuring Dr. Pathorn.

His achievements include awards for jazz improvisation and performance in the United States, the Lyra Prize in Hungary, and national and international honors including decorations from Portugal and Thailand. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Saxophone and Composition at Kasetsart University and is the founding president of the Saxophone Association Thailand.

At MUSE [X], Dr. Pathorn will lead the Jazz Department with a vision rooted in musicianship, improvisation, ensemble culture, and real-world artistic experience. Under his direction, the department will offer students not only the language of jazz, but also the confidence to listen, respond, create, and perform with meaning.

His appointment reflects the core belief of MUSE [X]: that music education must connect discipline with imagination, tradition with innovation, and individual voice with the power of the ensemble.
