MUSE [X] Science introduces science not as a traditional academic subject, but as a creative process. Through interdisciplinary projects and real-world collaboration, learners develop the ability to think like scientists while creating like artists.

Tomorrow’s innovators will need to move fluidly across disciplines, combining creativity, scientific thinking, technology, and storytelling to address complex global challenges.
MUSE [X] Science is a new interdisciplinary platform within MUSE [X] Academy. It introduces science not as a traditional academic subject, but as a creative process for exploration, experimentation, and innovation.
Rather than teaching students simply to become scientists, MUSE [X] Science empowers them to think like scientists while creating like artists. Students learn through projects, residencies, performances, exhibitions, and collaborations with researchers, artists, and industry partners.

About the Head of MUSE [X] Science

Dr. Somponnat Sampattavanich is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and Director of the Siriraj Center of Research Excellence for Cancer Precision Medicine and Systems Pharmacology, or SiCORE-PMSP.
He also serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Institute of Resource Development and Analysis, Kumamoto University, Japan, for the 2026–2028 period.
His research brings together cancer biology, spatial biology, artificial intelligence, and patient-derived organoids to better understand disease and advance more personalised healthcare.
Beyond the laboratory, he believes that science is fundamentally a creative process — one that begins with curiosity, embraces experimentation, and transforms ideas into meaningful solutions for society.
Throughout his career, Dr. Somponnat has built interdisciplinary research and educational programmes connecting science, technology, medicine, and creativity.
He founded Thailand’s first graduate programmes in Systems Pharmacology and established international collaborations with universities and research institutes across Asia, Europe, Australia, and the United States.
He is also the founder of the Asia Pacific Spatial Biology & Single-Cell Innovation Symposium, which brings together researchers and innovators from more than 15 countries to explore the future of biomedical science and technology.
As Head of MUSE [X] Science, his vision is to inspire learners from music, art, design, and science to see these disciplines not as separate worlds, but as complementary ways of understanding and shaping the future.
He aims to cultivate a community where curiosity sparks discovery, creativity drives innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration empowers people to imagine, prototype, and create meaningful impact.
About the BioArt Residency Master

Henry Tan is a Thai artist based in Bangkok. He was co-founder and Director of Tentacles Art Space in Bangkok from 2014 to 2020.
He is Artistic Director of FREAK Lab in Thailand and a member of metaPhorest in Japan. From 2024 to 2025, he was Artist in Residence at the Center for Genomics and Systems Biology at NYU Abu Dhabi.
His work explores life, simulation, and the ways living systems adapt to changing environments — from climate and geopolitics to health.
His interdisciplinary practice draws upon synthetic biology, mixed reality, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, cosmology, animism, and emerging biological technologies.
With support from The Fathomers in Los Angeles, Henry and collaborators developed “Pillars of Creation,” a project connecting stem-cell technology, cosmology, animism, and health through collaboration across Thailand, Japan, and the United States.
This body of work continues through “Temple of Singularity,” which considers relationships between the scale of the universe and the complexity of the human body. The project creates space for scientific exploration, ethical discussion, wonder, learning, reflection, and hope.
As BioArt Residency Master at MUSE [X], Henry will guide learners and resident participants in bridging artistic practice with scientific inquiry through an interdisciplinary approach integrating art, design, biology, and science.
Strategic Partnerships
MUSE [X] Science is designed as an open collaborative platform.
Initial and prospective collaborators may include FREAK Lab for BioArt and creative biology, and the Siriraj Laboratory for Systems Pharmacology for biomedical science and imaging, alongside universities, research institutes, creative studios, industry partners, and international artists-in-residence.
Through such collaborations, learners may gain access to authentic projects, specialist mentors, creative laboratories, emerging technologies, and interdisciplinary communities.
