Stéphane Lambert

Biography

Stéphane Lambert is a French documentary filmmaker, festival founder, and cultural entrepreneur based in Bangkok, whose work spans documentary film, podcasting, television, cultural institution-building, and creative education. He is the founder and director of BKK DOC – Bangkok International Documentary Awards, described in the proposal as Southeast Asia’s premier documentary film festival, IMDb-accredited, with an international jury of more than 140 members from over 20 countries. He is also a founding member of the Thai Documentary Filmmakers Trade Association (TDFA), the professional body representing Thailand’s non-fiction filmmaking community. His selected works include On a Thai Note, a documentary portrait of Thai composer Somtow Sucharitkul, currently streaming on Thai PBS and awarded Honorable Mention at Hollywood Shorts Fest 2026; Stories of a Miss, Thailand Winner at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2024 and selected at festivals across four continents; and Filming in Thailand, an interview podcast series that won Best Host/Presenter of the Year at the Asia Podcast Awards 2024. At Muse [X], Stéphane’s proposed school is built on the belief that performance now lives beyond the stage — on screen, in sound, and in the story told after the curtain falls. The program connects documentary film, audio and podcasting, vertical/social media storytelling, and artist portraiture, helping students graduate with a finished project connected to the Muse [X] stage, musicians, and creative ecosystem. His role is strategically important because Multimedia & Documentary Arts can serve every department: musicians, dancers, theatre students, composers, and music technology students all need to document and communicate their work. As Stéphane states in the proposal, this school is “the connective tissue of the Muse [X] ecosystem — the school that makes every other department visible.”
