Prof. Yoon Jung Yang is a Korean violinist and educator currently serving as Assistant Professor (Teaching) at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. A Curtis Institute of Music graduate, she has also studied at the New England Conservatory of Music and Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. Her international career spans solo performance, chamber music, orchestral leadership, competition recognition, and teaching at major institutions in Korea and China.

Biography
Prof. Yoon Jung Yang is a distinguished Korean violinist and educator currently serving as Assistant Professor (Teaching) at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.
Born in Seoul, Korea, Dr. Yang began her musical training through the preparatory division of the Korea National University of Arts and Yewon Arts Middle School. At the age of fifteen, she was admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with Aaron Rosand and Pamela Frank and earned her Bachelor of Music degree.
She continued her advanced studies at the New England Conservatory of Music on a full merit scholarship, studying with Miriam Fried and Donald Weilerstein, and completed both a Master of Music degree and a Doctorate degree. She also holds a Master of Music degree from Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, where she studied with Stephan Picard.
As a performer, Dr. Yang has received international recognition, including being a semifinalist at the Queen Elizabeth Competition in 2015 and winning the Modern Piece Prize at the Max Rostal International Competition in 2012. She has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician across Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Italy, Korea, Norway, Spain, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
Her solo appearances include collaborations with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, National Orchestra of Belgium, TBC Symphony Orchestra, Gwa-Cheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Korean Chamber Orchestra, Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra, and St. Gellert Academy Orchestra. She has also performed a solo recital at the Liszt Academy in Budapest, joined the Korean Chamber Orchestra in 2016, and served as guest principal and assistant concertmaster of the KBS Orchestra in 2022.
As a chamber musician, Dr. Yang has shared the stage with major artists including Atar Arad, Boris Berman, Natasha Brofsky, Kenneth Cooper, Timothy Eddy, Ralph Kirshbaum, Maria Lambros, Karl Leister, Seymour Lipkin, Anthony Marwood, Cynthia Phelps, Paula Robison, and Roger Tapping. She has also worked closely with contemporary composers including Richard Danielpour, Mario Davidovsky, Brett Dean, Steve Mackey, and Christopher Theofanidis.
Her festival experience includes Aspen Music Festival, Festival MusicAlp, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, Yellow Barn Music Festival, Kontiki Festival, Music Academy of the West, Ravinia Festival, Summit Music Festival, and Sarasota Music Festival.
As an educator, Dr. Yang has served as faculty for chamber music and violin at the Young Artists Program of Yellow Barn Music Festival, faculty member at Sookmyung Women’s University, and adjunct assistant professor at Korea National University of Arts.
