Kanyavee “Kru Sammy” Sonati is a versatile vocalist, performing artist, conductor, and voice educator. She graduated with Second-Class Honours in Western Music from Chulalongkorn University, majoring in Classical Vocal Performance. Her teaching spans classical voice, musical theatre, contemporary music, public speaking, voice acting, and stage performance for learners of all ages and experience levels.

Biography

Kanyavee “Kru Sammy” Sonati is a professional vocalist, performing artist, and voice educator with extensive experience in classical music, musical theatre, contemporary vocal performance, choral music, and performance coaching. She earned a Bachelor of Fine and Applied Arts with Second-Class Honours from Chulalongkorn University, majoring in Western Music with a concentration in Classical Vocal Performance. She studied under Assistant Professor Dr. Kittinant Chinsamran, receiving intensive training in vocal technique, musical interpretation, stage performance, and internationally recognised approaches to healthy and effective voice production. Kru Sammy believes that every learner possesses individual potential waiting to be discovered. Her teaching approach combines correct technical foundations, accessible explanations, inspiration, discipline, and a supportive learning environment. She aims to help students develop their voices confidently while discovering their own artistic identity. Her teaching experience covers learners of all ages, from young children and teenagers to working adults and older adults. She designs each lesson according to the learner’s background, goals, learning style, and vocal potential. Her students include complete beginners, individuals seeking greater confidence in communication and performance, and aspiring singers preparing for professional-level development. Kru Sammy has taught voice and performing arts at institutions including CurtainCall Performing Arts Studio, Viemus Music School, PSF Dance Academy, and ON-AIR Academy Thonglor, alongside her private teaching practice. She also previously served as conductor of the Chulalongkorn University Chinese Chorus. Her teaching repertoire includes opera, art song, musical theatre, pop, jazz, R&B, rock, K-pop, Thai country music, and classic Thai popular song. Beyond singing, she coaches public speaking, voice acting, voice-over performance, interpretation, stage presence, and professional communication. She also teaches traditional Thai dance to develop posture, movement, expression, and overall stage confidence. As a performing artist, Kru Sammy has appeared in major operatic productions, concerts, orchestral performances, and national cultural events. She was selected for the Opera Siam Young Soloist Program and performed in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice through the Cosmology of Thai Buddhism, directed by Emeritus Professor Dr. Somtow Sucharitkul and conducted by Trisdee na Patalung. She performed O mio babbino caro with the Siam Sinfonietta in the Love Concert under the direction of National Artist Dr. Somtow Sucharitkul. Her performance credits also include Madama Butterfly, the Marvel Movie Music concert with the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, and representing the orchestra at Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo 2024. Her additional stage and broadcast appearances include performing Quando m’en vo’ from La Bohème on Thai PBS, singing in the opening ceremony of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in 2025, appearing in the concert ODE TO JOY & The Changing World Order, and performing as a soloist in O Salutaris Hostia with the TYC choir. Kru Sammy was also a member of a choir participating in the 12th Bali International Choir Festival 2023 in Denpasar, Indonesia, where the ensemble received three gold medals and one silver medal. As both an active performer and committed educator, Kru Sammy brings professional stage experience into every lesson. She combines practical artistic knowledge with strong academic foundations to help learners build reliable technique, develop expressive confidence, and progress toward their musical and performance goals sustainably.
